Post Red Warning Light

For those of you who aren't aware we now have to take our Switchback to Townsville (1,000 kms) for warranty work.

The red light came on intermittently soon after we bought it (installed with the bike) and we were told then it wasn't an issue.

We're planning a trip soon to get a major service done but now the red light now comes up permanently on the speedometer.

We don't have the instructions nor the original speedo as it's still with the dealer.

I have no idea what the red light indicates and was hoping someone here might know?

Red light usually means trouble......Is there any fault codes. Check for them also....If it was flashing off and on prior and your local Dealer said it was nothing to worry about. Then you made the right decision to take your services somewhere else that's for sure. Shit. Them Red Warning lights serves a vital role. One thing ya don't want is a faulty warning light.....

its probably a twinkie alert.... the pressed crank is unpressing ...or ....the cam.chain tensioner is melting down ...     jus playin .... dont get mad with me... i would have thought the manufacturer splurb would have identified the light... i expect it is the diagnostic light and an installation issue specially if the dealer said at the beginning not to worry about it.... maybe you should put the original speedo back on see if it fixes the problem...

Sounds like it may be the ABS warning light staying on because it hasn't been reset.

Harley Australia organised with Sun-city HD Townsville to get it sorted.

I've sent photos so I should hear back soon what the diagnostics reveal.

redlight

Trev, I have that speedo/ tacho combo on my bike.
That red light when flashing indicates your security system is working. On the old original speedo the red light used to flash when the bike is off and the security system is functioning correctly. The light should go off when yoy switch the ignition on.
The fact it is staying on indicates to me that you may have a fault with the security system.

If you try to move the bike when the key fob is out of range, does your alarm start to sound??

Hope that gives you something to go by??

Same here, mine blinks every second or so when bike is parked. Always assumed it was the security system light?

Thanks HWG.......it has been staying on all the time when riding. I'm starting think its a loose wire...

At the very least it shouldn't affect performance on a long trip.....touch wood....
