Wow ..

starting from scratch & not knowing anything about the old pans ..

& chasing the pieces one at a time .. you are (as you said) creating an adventure for yourself (& mate).

Good luck with it all.

It's true that I started from nothing, but the adventure is beautiful, sometimes it is difficult.
I wanted to leave last year but I have trained so many people with me that I must not stop.
I try to show what I learned with Herve.
It's no more complicated than that.

Nice, keep up the good work.
The stress of building your project can't be beaten.
The learning curve of building your project can't be beaten.
The excitement of building your project can't be beaten.
When it's all finish you get to say ... 'I built that bike'.

I find it amazing that you can still buy brand new panheads.
The harley shop here in Ballarat has one and they look schmick.

These ones: http://www.vtwinmfg.com/webapp/wcs/...0102_3318454_-1

Pic: http://www.vtwinmfg.com/WebPics/55/55-5008a.jpg

or even just a rolling chassis and throw in a new S&S panhead engine
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Har...t-/291584518066

But yeah, I know the satisfaction of building your own bike. Been there and done that.
When I built my 1928 J model full resto it took me 3 1/2 years and on the night I finally finished it, some arsehole stole it!

It's a big research job, fortunately the internet exists.
I had the chance to find vintage axle plates.

Sorry that your bike has been stolen, this is one of the reasons why I do not show my face and I do not say where I live.

I can not believe I have not come since 2017, it's my fault.
A little news of my project, the fork is installed, at the moment I work on the crankcase and the gearbox.

Time flys when your having a good time,    most restorations take time especially
when your doing it yourself and it's a hit and miss situation where you may not be happy with
some of the work you have done so it's back to the drawing board  to create another idea

Anyway I hope it all comes together for you mate    and the important thing is that
you are still enjoying what you set out to achieve and hopefully it will all fall into place soon.

Keep us posted on it's progress, or should that be how it's evolving.

Today, I have a decision that is hard to take.
I give up after 7 years my project for personal reasons.
I thank everyone who helped and encouraged me and others who have followed me all these years.

That's not uncommon mate....don't feel bad about it panhead. Other things in life are important too. If you can just shelve it, if you have the room. Park it somewhere, don't look at it, just store it and who knows, one day you may get the urge again to work on it again.
You've worked at this project for 7 years, yes it will be a difficult decision.....unless there is a urgent need or time frame to get the project finished, don't shut the door now on it. Take your time.
Go and do other things that you enjoy.

Good luck

My roof is in poor condition and for now my financial priority has become quite different.
You will easily understand why.
