We will be happy to carry on with this one but without saying to much
I have had to address other problems I am facing at the moment and
to tell you the truth the last six months for me has been hell.

Following on in the same vane as my '57 Golden Flash...
I'm now the owner of this '51 Golden Flash plunger model.

When I was just a nipper (7 or 8 years old) & living in country Victoria in the early 60's
I was lucky enough to have been picked to ride in a side car powered by a
GOLD '51 BSA Golden Flash plunger..
The rider Les Sloan, would give great joy to us young lads taking us all for a blast around
the streets of this sleepy 1 horse town. Lifting the side car high into the air it's a wonder you
could even hear the roar of the motor above our screams of enjoyment.
When Les passed away in the mid 70's the bike passed to his son Brian & was put into storage...

I worked with Brian for nearly 40 years, & I'm quite sure he got sick of me pestering him
to sell me his dads bike. His answer was always a FIRM NO..
Brian decided to disassemble the bike to stop his younger brother from riding it, & there it lay
in his shed for years, untill the early 90's when Brian sent the motor off to be restored.

Receipts for the work done show crank grind, re bored, big end bearings bolts & nuts, new pistons & rings, new cam, followers, main bearing & bush, Mag & Dynamo overhaul,
4 new valves & springs plus more...

After coming around to my place & viewing my '57 Golden flash he realised he did not have the knowledge or desire to put this bike back together...

A deal was done & I'm now the proud owner of this beauty that fired my imagination & love of this
BSA motor bike over 50 years ago..

Now the work begins...

Due to home renovations I've been a bit slack of late working on the '51 Golden Flash,
But now the motor has been sorted & back into the bike for the first time since 1992 ..
all new pistons & rings,  cam,  valves,  guides & springs, gear box sorted & a splash of paint..

Been dealing with David & before him his father & mother Jean for nearly 35 years,
I have purchased quite a few hard to get parts from Modak. sorry to see them go...
BUT I believe he has kept the web site going for parts..
I think a lot of people shyed away because he only dealt in cash, & no credit card machine.
I have a few friends in England who have shipped bits & pieces for me over the years..
