Post New Project

Got tempted and ended up purchasing an old softail custom.  She looks ok from the photos but as we all know, reality will probably be significantly different.  Low klms so she has been doing a bit of sitting but heads are done, cam (thinks it was ev27), mikuni 42 carb, Propipe (that's not staying) and paint in good shape.  She got picked up yesterday but won't turn up until mid October so I have a couple of weeks up my sleeve to make up a story for the wife.  Old fella I got her from has had it from new but isn't riding much anymore so decided to sell her to a decent bloke and a good home.  Might leave her as she is but was looking to get my hands dirty again.  Only question is........Chopper or Bobber????

lol I saw a build from Sweden a couple of years ago and it was different.  Bobber rear end, peanut tank, apes and raked front.  It actually looked ok as it all flowed nicely.

Well, she has turned up.  Paint is pretty well perfect but a lot of undoing needs to be done.  Front end is where I will start, so fork seals, throttle cables, clutch cable, brake line, mirrors and grips should sort that out pretty quickly. The V&H Propipe is coming off and original headers with tapered turbos to go on.  Set of Avons and she should be pretty right to get on down the road.  She fired straight up and motor pulls really well with no hesitation at all. A full service should help and may reveal issues so that is on the cards as well.  First impressions are she is a bit nice to tamper with but then again, its basically only the tins that will be changed over.  If I knew how, I would throw up a couple of photos.
