Bonsai

So far everything they have done is by the books.
Stuff that they are entitled to do.

Apparently if I had the crash a month later I would be in a better position financially.
They actually now pay your wages equivalent as you go, in much the same way as workers compensation.

I asked them for some more money to survive on, and they gave me a whole heap of paperwork to fill out.
My solicitor said that given Im getting income protection money, it is unlikely they will pay any extra.

Had a chat to my bank manager. Wanted to see if I could get some type of overdraft going that could be run until the insurance company settled.
Unfortunately they cant do anything as they need to know that I have regular income.
If there is a chance that the income protection money runs out before I return to work, or a settlement is made, Im on my own.
If, as some have mentioned, I am unable to return to work, then I will be left with no option than to get onto Centrelink benefits.
I looked at that as an option while I waited for the income protection to kick in.
About 100 pages of forms to fill out, on top of the information they already have on me.
All to get money, which they will receive back in full once a settlement is made.

The whole system is crazy the way ot treats innocent victims of road crashes.

Maybe the new system they have in place will make it easier to survive.

Was thinking about talking to my solicitor more about it, but any minor question gets a response by mail on embossed paper.
Thinking he is charging me around 100 bucks for minor shit like that.

Hope he is worth what it will cost me in the end.

Cheers

Rob

Bit of an update.

Things have been happening.

As a result of seeing the Insurance Company specialist, they sent me for a SPECT/CT.
They inject radioactive crap into you, then wait until it gets absorbed and then do the CT.

This is likely to become familiar to the older guys and girls, as it is actually a bone density test.

Had the test done on the 20th June.
Got a phone call from my surgeon on 11th July.
Surgery as he initially requested has been approved.

Need to get some more tests done.
Up to date X Rays, CT scans and MRI.

Surgery could happen in as little as 2 weeks, but may be a bit longer.

Need to get the ducks lined up properly in my persoanl life before going away for up to 2 weeks.

So I can look forward to a return to work in January or February.

Just going forward with the original idea of a 2 level fusion
S1 to L5 L5 to L4

8 hours surgery apparently.
Long time to put in 2 rods and a few screws.

Apparently its about an 80k surgery cost

Mine was 4th August 2014, was end November when was allowed back on bike. First short ride was with Rx & lovely Wife Jen as they come to visit me. Rode from Central Coast nsw to Warwick. I surprised myself doing it in one day.

Not sure on surgery dates yet.
There is a spot in about a fortnight if everything falls into place.
But I have a house guest at the moment with her own problems, that I need to get squared away before I have surgery.
Cant leave her in the house alone.
Family wont take her either.
Drug problem. Filthy ICE.
Waiting for a spot in rehab to open up so she can get help.
Once I have that in place I can get myself fixed.

Hi Rob,,  Well I hope you get the house guest sorted out, I myself had 1 of my Sons go down that path. anyway, I waited 4 years by the time I had surgery and by then more damage had been done and needed the 2 x Donor Bone wedges inserted. Chin up mate, ya near the end of the tunnel.

Well Steamer we could probably share some horrid stories then.
Not many people believe the some of the stories unless they have experienced the same thing.
Not a lot surprises me anymore with her behaviour.
The other night she actually called the cops on me.
Totally delusional.
They took her away and dropped her off at her mums.
She basically had no option other than to take her in.
Stayed there a night and a bit then dissappeared.
Only in her pyjamas.
Going to start calling her milk bottle.
Woke up with her on my doorstep this morning.
At least she rang rehab and hopefully gets into detox in the next week or so.
Of its face that much at the moment it cant be talked to.

Never a dull moment.

Post Re: Weekend Gone Wrong

Well Ive finally got a date for surgery locked in.
24th August.
Could have had it done a couple of weeks earlier, but didnt like the idea of being in hospital, or recovering from surgery on my birthday.
Had to see a different doctor than normal last week.
The mob in Canberra that authorises my painkillers said my condition needed a review by a different doctor.
So the new doc took the basic history, he works in the same centre as my regular bloke.
Told him that the painkillers werent quite cutting it anymore. Either Im becoming used to them or the pain is getting worse.
He added Lyrica to the script.
Apparently it helps with nerve type pain.
Only a few days into it, but it seems to be helping a bit.
Have been told by a couple of mates who used it, that it can take a couple weeks to become really effective.
Only time will tell.

Getting the inquisition from the bosses at work.
That want more information about what is happening.
Ive kept them up to date with everything any way, but the big boss seems to think I should be able to come up with some magical information from a source Im not sure exists.
Couple of emails back and forth and they seem to be a little happier.
Not sure why they cant understand that I cant give them any more information than I know myself.

Each email comes with a section that says that they believe they are entitled to the information requested as terms of employment, and that failure to provide the information could result in disciplinary action.
Not sure thats the best way to indicate concern for my welfare.

But anyway, got a bit of time to prepare myself for the surgery.
Installing another security camera before I go, and setting up my system to allow remote viewing of the cameras.
Will need to organise Dorrie Evans next door to take care of my mail and stuff.
Might have to give him a bottle of bourbon for his troubles.
Hopefully my housemate will be admitted to rehab before I go for surgery.

Anyway things are looking good, and I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Cheers

Rob.

Post Re: Weekend Gone Wrong

Thanks for the thoughts.

Took the girl up to the rehab centre this morning for an interview.
Bit over an hour and a half drive.
Got there and the bitch wouldnt participate in the interview.

So that was a waste of 4 hours today.

Her useless mother dropped her off at a friends place last week in Wollongong.
Dont know how she thought dropping her off at a users place would be a good thing.

So when she came back on Friday she was high as a kite.
Broke a window Saturday night. Kicked her out and called the cops.
She came back at 3 am. Left her sitting outside.

Dont expect help from the mum, but dont need her sabotaging her own daughter either.
She had been off it for 2 weeks.
Oh well.
Will be intersting when I go to hospital.
She will be on the streets again I guess.

Gee Rob, You do the right thing by Her. And she repays you this way.  Hopefully she don't break into your place while you in Hospital. Might pay to let the Cops and neighbours know you will be away, so the Cops can do a drive by.  Start counting the days as you getting closer to Op day,

The place will be locked up well enough.
Ive got security cameras set up as well.
Just have to go through the last bits and pieces for setting them up for remote viewing.
My next door neighbour is really vigilant during the day.
Im sure you will remember a TV character called Dorrie Evans.
He is better than she ever was.

Got up this morning and she was downstairs in the lounge.
That means she is still coming down.
I ignored her.
She told me to get her coffee and smokes with her money. SHe has no money.
I told her to frock off and walked out.
Couple of smashing noises later, I went back inside.

RIP
1 coffee cup and cup a soup contents
1 beer mug
1 cereal bowl and contents

She raced upstairs into her room as I came in.

Life definitely isnt boring at the moment.

But Im going to run out of things for her to break if she keeps it up.

So almost a week away from surgery, and I get a message that I need to get some more imaging done pre op.
An EOS scan, which is basically a full spine x ray while you are standing up.
Only problem, is there arent many places around that offer the service.
Im living in the Nowra NSW area, and the closest place is Bondi Junction.

Looking at about 2 1/2 hours drive each way to get it done.
Looked at Public Transport as an option.
ABout 5 1/2 hours each way, if every service synchs.
And they wonder why people dont like Public Transport.

So Monday will be a trip to the big smoke.
Will be sore after the trip, but at least it will be over and done with.

After that it will be finalising all the little things I need to organise before I go away.

I have my security cameras set up for remote viewing.
Just need to get past a bit of a software problem to complete it.
Can watch them via my phone, but not my laptop.
Hopefully will get that sorted before I head off.

Im on a bit of a search mission this morning though.
Cant find the TV remote.
The Foxtel remote was sitting beside my laptop this morning with the batteries removed, and the casing half apart.
Found a few prawns lying around on the floor from the chinese for dinner last night.

Will need to do a good check of everything before I go to hospital.
Dont want to come home to something decaying in the house for 10 days or so.

Cheers

Rob

That's a bummer Rob, not being anywhere in  Wollongong or even Sutherland shire.. Hope all goes well, and count the days down,
Were you ok with fires last week at Bomaderry, My Nephew was within 500mtrs of the main fire, was evacuated. Plus got my sister in Nth Nowra west of the Zoo overlooking the river

With my Op, the Specialists had me up walking next morning and home that afternoon.  He is a Professor who teachers other Dr's at UNSW how to do the Op.
