At least some things are headed in the right direction , but insurance companies are all the same happy to take your money endlessly and fucking slow as a wet week to pay up

After almost 6 months off work, I got to see a neurosurgeon on 26/3.
Had to wait about a month for the appointment.

So the verdict is I need spinal fusion.
The disc in S1/L5, the lowest joint, is rather well flogged out.
It has been flattened out and the resultant expansion has closed the gaps required for the nerve to pass through freely.
The L5/L4 is well damaged too.
He is looking at fusing S1,L5 and L4 together.

The specialist was fantastic in showing me on the images where the problems were.
It was easily visible when he showed me what he was looking at.
I looked at the images myself earlier and without some explanation, they meant jack shit.

So now will no doubt come a battle with the CTP Insurer, who will try to get out of having to pay for the surgery.
Apparently it is around 70k to do the job.

In the meantime, with the 6 month mark coming up, my employer has requested more information from my doctor.
The premise being that they want to know when I will return to work, and whether adjustments will be required to the workplace.
My suspicion is that they are preparing a case to have my employment terminated.
The future will see what happens on that issue.

A good solicitor in your court will help....everyone will be out to cut your throat
For example the Insurance co might/will send you to their doctor and you can nearly bet his findings will show your not as bad as reported...maybe.?...
Your employer is looking for evidence you will be unfit for duty for the foreseeable future, possibly not able to return
It didn't take long for my employer to flick me...
Good luck with it al Rockoz and especially good luck with  the healing...

oOps Edit:...panodol osteo is good for pain...it's not a big banga pain killer and is slow to work, but it can take the top off the pain level..
Opiates stop working on the pain after a while, just keep you zonked and addicted
Don't forget ....a good solicitor is gold, talk to him before each and every step

hi,ROCKOZ,  sorry to hear what you are going thru,  as i have said before, when this situation happens there is more than the physical aspect , witch is bad enough.  the other side effects  are lack of wages, weight gain, and mental frustation dealing with people like those shit heads from centerlink, as you  found out. the avarage person who works ,will find it very hard dealing with them, as PIZZ , said try to stay away from heavy pain killers, more problems than the pain from your back.  i have the same problem as you , 22 months now, i was on lyrica, put on 10 kilos in 3 months, they cause massive weight gain ,and cause seizures, i felt like crap . threw them away .lost weight and still in the same amount of pain. its a learning process , how to deal with people , and your self. i came upon this site nearly 2 years ago. and the good thing about it is they are all good people , who have had these problems ,and offer real advice because they have lived it, un like some doctors, surgeons , etc, who dont live in our world,, RICK

Thanks guys..

Have tried ditching the endone a couple of times because I am worried about the side effects.
Sadly nothing keeps the pain levels as manageable as endone.
So will be sticking with it for the time being.
I have found over the years that I dont have an addiction trait, not to drugs or booze anyway.
Ciggies and bad decisions yes.

My solicitor is keeping up to date with things.
He has pointed me in the right direction a couple of times already.
Ive got a great GP. He understands me and the life I lead, so all is good there.
My surgeons have been the same as well.
So I am lucky in that regard at the moment.
Have dealt with surgeons previously that were so far up themselves it was unreal.
But so far so good.
Only wanker in my treatment is the physio, and Im ditching him next week with the approval of the insurance company.
Im a fat old bastard. I was before the crash and functioning well. And I want to be the same after the crash.
The pain killers arent helping with weight.
I actually lost 10kg in the months leading up to the crash, but have stalled and put a little on.

The painkillers are playing havoc with my diet.
There are days I just cant eat.
Lots of coke keeps the belly kind of on track, but plays havoc with other things
