Post Current Update On Harley (5/9/2020)

Some 2021 models scrapped even before release, more than 50 dealerships across the world shut down and more to go, Street 500 & 750 are total flops, etc etc

Interesting, still think one of their biggest problems is the price over the top to dear.

Yep nutsack, they expect people to pay for the name, not the quality.
Well, it's not working any more.

I even see some clubbies are now riding new Indians and Triumphs. Harley's day in the sun is fading.

Just looking at the 2021 line-up, wow they are getting pricey. I'm having more fun on my Triumph Rocket 3R. Nothing in the new line-up is inspiring.

With the company re-shuffle and the new CEO discontinuing some models they probably don't know what will and what won't be in the 21 line-up yet.
He is even ending models that haven't even been released yet but were due to next year!

Doesn't look too good for the Harley Davidson name. No wonder people are looking at other brands.

Yes Pete, their name is mud.
The Moco has lost the respect of most of its older base customers, and newer younger customers just aren't interested in Harleys.

There are far better bikes coming out of Japan, some for less than half the price! People want reliability when they pay 25-35 grand.
Harley offer no reliability and at ridiculous prices.

An example; Yamaha Bolt 950 is totally outselling all model sportsters combined.

And in what world is anyone going to pay $73,250 for a Factory Trike!!!  ($78,995  in NZ)

No mate....
I would like to go back to the Touring models.....
Streetglide or RK.....Or even a Ultra.
But just not feeling the llove on the newer models.....Give me a Twin cam anyday.
But just a note....
The younger Generation is whats keeping HD afloat up this way..
Young pricks are going made over them...
Might be something to do with the  Advertising, combined with the Big Numbers the local team are producing with the Alpha  performance motors .

G'day all,from what I'm reading there won't be any 21 models,
the moco has pulled out of India,
They are saying the tax laws are to stringent,
I reckon that's BS,the bikes just aren't selling....

Yep, they can't admit to poor business, so let's blame India, or someone else. Anyone but the company

They should have opened and fully built Harleys in India, that would have got around the Indian Tax, Indian is waiting for the world to build them up, but people are still clinging to China, Harley then could have imported them worldwide, surly that would have made better business sense.

I just don't like the new frame, or the fact that I can make multi bikes out of one with different panels.

I use to enjoy walking through a Harley dealer looking at the different models, now Im hard press to work out what model is what.

Im keeping my 2012 CVO convertible, not buying a new one at my age.

They also closed some plants in USA.

They have permanently closed their factory in Kansas City Missouri, and have temporarily closed Menomonee Falls, Tomahawk Operations in Tomahawk, and York Vehicle Operations in Pennsylvania. They claim the temporary closures of the other 3 factories are due to ONE employee having Covid19.

Their historic Milwaukee plant is still running.

The new CEO,Jochen Zeitz has closed 50 US dealerships and more to come and some of the poorer performing dealerships world wide will be closed.
The model range will shrink apparently, you will still have sporty's softails and tourers but less different models in each range.
I did read where  Zeitz plans to slow yearly production to make the HD's more exclusive,
probably much like the 80/90's where you had to wait for a new bike that you wanted and nearly every thing sitting on the show room floor was already sold and so driving up prices on secondhand bikes
From what I can work out ,I could be wrong, the company hasn't looked at the pricing of the bike and that is a lesson I don't think they have yet learned.
